2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 – First Drive Review

July 18, 2011

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

Four is the new three, as in $4 and 40 highway miles per gallon. But come hell or high gas prices, there will always be hot cars, mighty trucks, and a privileged few who don’t sweat $100 fill-ups as long as the passing lane remains open for business.

Back from some engineering R & R, the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 lives for express-lane service. Like the rest of the Cherokee nation, it rolls on a new platform that began life as a Benz but was nurtured by a Chrysler team with a name that says it all. Safe Drivers Act of 2011

July 15, 2011

The following statement on the “Safe Drivers Act of 2011” can be attributed to Chrysler Group LLC:

Chrysler Group supports the “Safe Drivers Act of 2011”, legislation introduced by U.S. Representative Carolyn McCarthy, and applauds the bill’s goal of prohibiting the use of hand-held mobile devices while driving.

Chrysler has a strong history of addressing distracted driving, and we are proactively designing our vehicles and educating our customers on the importance of staying focused on the road. This legislation addresses the fact that a driver’s primary responsibility is to be in control of their vehicle; texting while driving clearly interferes with that responsibility.

In order to promote safer driving behaviors and serve as an industry example, in 2009, Chrysler became the first automaker to establish a corporate policy prohibiting texting while driving. We earned a leadership role in 2003 as the first North American automaker to introduce Bluetooth technology in vehicles, enabling hands-free phone use.

The Mazda3 reached this impressive milestone in less than 8 years, thanks in large part to its popularity in the North American market, where nearly 1.2 million customers have taken one home since 2003.

“Mazda3 embodies the three elements of Mazda’s DNA: distinctive design, exceptional functionality, and responsive handling and driving performance,” said Hirotaka Kanazawa, Mazda Motor Corporation’s senior managing executive officer in charge of R&D. “Continued global success has seen it grow into Mazda’s most popular model, comprising a third of all Mazda vehicle sales. Since the first-generation model appeared on the market, it has responded to the major changes in the automobile industry by inheriting and strengthening Mazda’s brand DNA while evolving exceptional environmental and safety performance.”
